Join Our Adult Peer Support Group

When he wrote his book Travels in a Blue Chair, Author Walt Balenovich was unfortunately correct when he noticed that “The world isn’t built with a ramp.”

Alliance hosts an adult peer support group the third Monday of every month at our Seattle office. The group supports its members by listening, sharing and learning from our peers developing bonds that can grow into a new supportive community.

Members are given a chance to grow through experiences:

  • Sharing experiences over-coming barriers

  • Dealing with current frustrations

  • Celebrating current successes

The support group volunteer for events and create new connections with others in the disability community. We would love to get feedback from the group on having accessible fun at events from Murderball (wheel chair rugby) to poetry readings. The goal of this group is to have fun and empower its members to live more independently in society. Additionally, we hope to improve the individuals’ skills needed to make informed decisions about their lives and embody advocate James Charlton’s call for inclusion, “Nothing about Us without Us”
