Understanding Ableism

  • Disability Empowerment Center (map)

Join us for a free webinar about accessibility in healthcare.

Panelists include:
- Zuzana Skvarkova, disability justice advocate and TED talk speaker
- Justin Steinberg, research assistant at Stanford University
- Loretta Claiborne, Special Olympics athlete

We will discuss the disadvantages that people with disabilities have when accessing healthcare. Unfortunately, too many doctors and nurses were led to believe the disability community is “broken” and “needs fixing.” From the design of medical sites to the availability of resources, to the attitudes of doctors and nurses, too many healthcare practices were not designed with disability community input. This webinar is a chance for our guest panelists to tell their own stories encountering ableism in healthcare and give medical workers feedback on how they can best treat people with disabilities.

Tuesday, Feb. 18
10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
