Celebrating Robert’s 25 Years of Service

This month we are marking Robert Blumenfeld’s 25th anniversary with our organization and announcing his upcoming retirement! Robert serves as our Associate Director, overseeing numerous programs at Disability Empowerment Center.

He joined us in 1997 and has played a variety of roles including Job Developer, Employment Specialist, Branch & Program Manager and Program Manager of Emergency Services.

Robert has received several awards including the 2003 Carolyn Blair Brown Award from the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment.

Robert’s work has touched thousands of people throughout King County—and he has also lent his talents to many other organizations and entities over the years. He has served on many boards during his esteemed career including Redmond Citizen Corps Council, Greater Redmond COAD, King County Civil Rights Commission, the King County 504/ADA advisory committee; Economic Development District for Puget Sound (now part of Puget Sound Regional Council) and the Demo Project on Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Service King County, King County Elections Disability Advisory Committee, Alliance of Eastside Agencies, Puget Sound Career Development Association, National Council on Independent Living, Eastside Human Services Forum, DCFS-Community Leadership team and Eastside Pathways.

We will be sad to see Robert leave when he retires this September, but we are so proud to have worked with this outstanding advocate for people with disabilities!
