July is Disability Pride Month!

We’re excited to celebrate Disability Pride Month this July!

Disability Pride Month started in 1990 with the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26. That landmark legislation prohibited discrimination against people with disabilities.

This significant step in the disability justice movement was the inspiration for this month of celebration, and many cities now celebrate with parades and other public events.

One of the goals of Disability Pride Month is to empower people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace our own disabilities. Recognizing that our disabilities are integral to who we are helps us celebrate ourselves as unique and valuable individuals.
