National Disability Voting Rights Week

Are you registered to vote?

Sept. 11-15 is National Disability Voting Rights Week, so it’s a great time to check on your voting status.

Many people with disabilities are eligible to vote but face barriers to accessing their rights. One in six voters has a disability according to Rutgers University. Yet, two-thirds of polling places across the country aren’t fully accessible says the U.S. government.

In Washington state, voting is done by mail. Here’s where you can register to vote in Washington state online today. The deadline to register to vote online or by mail is Oct. 20.

In King County, you can also register by mail or in person in addition to online. King County also provides accessible voting options and in-person vote centers that offer audio, large print or other assistive devices for voting.

Check out more ways to get involved in voting advocacy.
